What’s been happening at Wyggestons and Trinity Almshouses?

It’s certainly been a busy start to the year for us at the Almshouses. You may have seen some of our recent events on social media, but we are also now including a new section of our website to update readers on the ongoings of the Almshouses.

So, with that in mind, welcome to the first official blog post of Wyggestons and Trinity Almshouses.

At Wyggestons and Trinity, our residents mean the most to us and we endeavour to ensure that their experience with us is one that they will remember.

So what is 2026 looking like for us?

So far, we’ve indulged in New Years festivities, but the main event of the quarter was our charities evening that took place in February! Each year, we gift a donation to four other charities, three being a yearly contribution and one changing each year – this being our Resident’ nominated charity. This year, the charity chosen was the MS therapy centre and our residents managed to raise a whooping £6000! Of course, there was the happy bonus of a variety of cheeses and wines for them to enjoy at the presentation of the cheques.

This event is very dear to our hearts, it brings a lot of people together and helps towards keeping well-intentioned charities in practice.

The three charities we support each year are; LOROS, Age UK and Shelter. We take great pride in being able to support these local charities. At Wyggestons and Trinity, it is important to us that we support local charities and local businesses. We believe in giving back to the community, something that our residents take very seriously as they raise monies year-round, be it by designing and selling cards, by putting on a Fair for the public, and even taking part in fundraising walks! We are so very proud to house such wonderful people!

What else can you look out for this year?

We have many upcoming events, some open to the public, some for our residents and their families, but no matter who is in attendance, it’s always a wonderful time.

We have our annual sea-side day coming up in July, where we will be treating our residents to a classic Hog Roast, there will be our annual Garden Party taking place in August, our Founders’ Day celebration will take place in June – this is perhaps our biggest event of the year!

Stay tuned for more of the day to day goings on at Wyggestons and Trinity, and if you would like to know more, we would love to hear from you!
